Physical Education is provided to all students and emphasises the important role that physical activity, sport and recreation need to play in the lives of all students by providing opportunities for challenge, personal growth, enjoyment and fitness. It promotes involvement in a manner that reflects awareness that everyone has the right to participate in a healthy and active lifestyle. It develops students’ confidence in using movement and fundamental motor skills and strategies to increase their motivation to become active as well as improve their performance.
Tootgarook PS has a proud tradition of competing across a wide variety of sporting activities at various levels. The school competes at inter-school level in athletics, cross country, triathlon, swimming, football, cricket, netball, T-ball and rounders.
An intensive two week swimming program for Grades Prep-2 is conducted at the local swimming centre by qualified instructors. Our water safety and awareness program fro Grade 3-6 is conducted during first term on the foreshore of Port Phillip Bay and includes beach activities based on the ‘Nippers’ program of the surf lifesaving association.
